A Letter from the CEO
As I sit and write this I realize that this coming Monday is the eight (!) year anniversary of our company. Our crazy idea that started as a class project as Mechanical Engineering students at USC has turned into this incredibly amazing experience of sharing our passion for electric skateboards with our customers and community.
There have been extremely high highs. We've watched Matt Lauer and Michael Strahan ride ZBoards on live TV, and thankfully not fall. We've seen epic customer videos and pictures, including my personal favorite - the ZBoard birthday cake. We've gotten the opportunity to ride around San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York, Austin, and Miami all in the name of the company. Its truly been an amazing ride.
There have also been tough times. We've missed shipping projections. We've run into unforeseen issues with production. We've made mistakes. We've had to fire people. The road has been bumpy.
The only thing that makes any of this possible, is the backing of our customers and community. A less patient, less passionate group would have given up with the first sign of adversity. You have stayed with us and for that I thank you.
For nearly the last two years we've put nearly all of our resources into finalizing and delivering the boards you've been waiting for patiently, and I'm happy to say that this week we'll build and ship more ZBoard 2 units than any week prior. Check out our most recent blog post for details on production. Over these two years we have not spent significant resources on sales, marketing, PR, or promotion. Going into 2017 we need to be a bit more balanced in order to grow.
In the coming weeks you'll begin to see more marketing coming from our company. While the rest of the team at our facility focused on production, I will be in Las Vegas for CES later this week sharing the ZBoard 2 with journalists with the intention of selling more boards to help our company grow. You'll begin seeing additional social media and email advertising from us as well.
I recognize that a logical reaction to this is "they should be focused on delivering my board!" I see this perspective, but if you step back I hope this is something our community can cheer for and encourage. As we grow we'll be able to hire more engineers to design more cool accessories, hire more guys in production guys to build boards quicker, and be able to bring on more customer service reps to answer your emails more quickly. Growth of our company is key for our passion and your passion for ZBoard to maintain and spread.
