Since our last update we have shipped out the remaining Beta 3.0 units. We have now shipped over 200 boards to customers in 20+ states. The Beta has been a major hit with testers.
We have decided that production will now begin in February due to two factors:
The beta was more popular than projected, with many people joining very late in the process. As a result production took a week longer than originally expected.
We've heard from many customers that poor weather across the country has kept them from truly testing the board, keeping us from getting the widespread feedback we need.
With these factors in mind we've decided to extend Beta 3.0 testing two additional weeks before production, to ensure the board has properly evaluated in the field. Also, this will give us time to build out hundreds more of the needed subassemblies, which will allow us to greatly increase our output. Through the Beta 3.0 build we were averaging approximately 50 units per week. We expect to be able to more than double that number once production begins. Here is the updated schedule:
We have continued conversations with our international logistics partners and are close to nailing in the timelines and costs for international shipments. Once these are finalized we will be announcing them.
ZBoard @ CES in Las Vegas
We had a great two days in Las Vegas earlier this month showing off the ZBoard to journalists and meeting up with some of our customers.
The ZBoard's acceleration is wild, especially when you ramp it up to the higher "expert" and "ludicrous" modes. We were flying (within the speed limit, of course), creating long, arching turns when the opportunity arose.
Of all the Rideables that were shown at CES this year, the ZBoard 2 Pearl was my favorite.
When the two days of CES were over we were back in the shop, setting build records left and right. This month we've really started to increase our production efficiency and less boards are failing final testing as each week passes. For those of you who have your boards, be sure to ride them like crazy and pass us your feedback. For those of you who don't, hang in there, we can't wait to get you riding.
